Stranger things have happened…but I doubt it!

Being involved in the Diamonds Down Under continuity it has had the effect of making me even more aware (if that was possible) of advertising and news stories connected to my favourite sparkling stones, but colour me amazed when I stumbled across this website

As strange as it is, the concept is quite stunning. These specially created gems are certified high quality diamonds created from…wait for it…the carbon of your deceased loved one. And you’re not confined to the carbon of a deceased person, there is an option for pets too.

While this is a very interesting concept, I’m not sure that I would either (a) wear a diamond formed from the carbon of a deceased loved one, or (b) want my family to wear me once I’m gone.

What about you? Would you do it/wear it?

  1. I heard about Life Gem from the A&E show Family Plots. The owner of the funeral home had a diamond made from his son’s carbon. If it makes people feel better I say go for it. Personally for me I wouldn’t want one.

  2. Hi Crystal. You know, the more I think about this concept the more I can see where, in some cases, it would really hold appeal. Recently I heard of a family whose 17 yr old daughter died suddenly of heart failure (she’d been a donor heart recipient five years or so ago and, from what I understand, her body starting rejecting the heart.) If that happened to one of my kids I think I’d possibly consider the diamond thing. But then how would you ever cope if it was lost or stolen. Certainly not the sort of thing you can replace, is it?
