Well, I’m into my latest book and the writing has been coming very slow in the past two weeks. So slow I’ve even considered catching up on the ironing! But, never fear, the ironing still remains in disordered piles downstairs because this week I decided to collage my story–ever hopeful that perhaps it wasn’t coming together because I didn’t have the visual cues that I’ve come to rely on for my books.
So, here it is:

Yeah, I like to listen to music too, partly to drown out noise of other ‘at home’ members of the family when I’m trying to work, but I do find a collage like the one above quite good to stare at vacantly when my fingers stop dancing across the keyboard. I’d never tried it before my fourth published book and now I’m hooked. Sometimes it’s just the pictures that stimulate my writing, other times it’s the words I’ve cut and pasted onto the board. Either way, if it works and I meet my deadline, I’m happy!
