eBooks

I know I’ve had a discussion before on eBooks and readers but I’m very happy to say that someone pointed out to me that my Palm Z22 does support reading eBooks. Lo and behold, on my installation disk was an eReader file to download (who knew?) So, I’m delving into the realms of eBooks very happily. My only problem being that my screen is virtually unreadable in strong sunlight (and yes, I’ve checked my brightness and contrast settings.) Anyway, I digress, but suffice to say I’m very happy dabbling in this new world. While I’ll still buy my keepers in print, there’s something very special about seeing them on the bookcase and running your hand across the spines, I can also see a whole new world out there in eBooks that makes me very excited as a reader.

So, it was fortuitous when I received an email from Diesel eBooks requesting a link back from my website AND an offer of a 20% off coupon for readers wanting to buy my books in eBook format from them for the next 45 days. So, if you would like to see my Diesel eBooks and take advantage of the 20% off coupon remember to put in this code–LIND67aab–at the checkout!

Happy eBook reading!

  1. So lately I have been jumping on the ebook bandwagon too but since the only way for me read ebook is on the pc I also have a print book on the go at the same time cause I like to read in bed.

  2. I agree it is so much eaiser to go with e books, especially with ordering them, but with wearing glasses and the glare on the computer (even with a protective screen)it is hard to stay for very long to read an ebook. So I opt to go with printed books still.

  3. I’m hoping that eventually ebook readers will become less expensive and provide more options. My Palm has a tiny screen and of course it’s impossible to read in direct sunlight. Personally, I’m really keen on the latest Sony ebook reader but as far as I’m aware it isn’t supported outside North American. Nor, of course, is the Kindle (how did they arrive at that name?) Times, they are a-changing, but really really slowly ;-)

  4. A 20% off coupon is brilliant! Makes me wish I had an ebook reader.

I can see one day I’m going to have to embrace this newfangled technology and I can really see the benefits - all that weight saved in lugging books on planes - brilliant! Let me know when I can get one that’s sexy, smart and cheap (and that I can’t stuff up!) and I’m so there:-))

  6. I love the convenience, too, plus I can actually read my eBooks in bed because I don’t need a light on (which my dh hates, so I can’t read print books in bed.) And although you get used to the little screen on PDA’s, I too would love a dedicated reader with a larger screen and the page/ink technology (although I wouldn’t be able to read that in bed, either). The thing that bugs me about the Sony and the Kindle is the exclusivity thing that ties you to their store and format. (Correct me if I’m wrong.) I want to be able to buy and download my eBooks from whichever store I want (IOW whichever store has the best bargains!)

Glad you’re enjoying the eBooks, Yvonne. Isn’t it great to be able to select, download and be reading in seconds?

  7. Oh, Bron, I’m totally hooked on this ebook thing now. Like you said, you can read in bed without disturbing the DH and I’m actually sleeping better because I’ve always loved to read in bed before going to sleep. Now I read until my eyes feel heavy, which in a darkened room and reading a backlit screen doesn’t take too long :D and when I fall asleep it’s virtually instant. I’m very definitely a convert.
