HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!

Wow, it’s been a while since I blogged and I have to admit, I’m a very bad blogger. However, I am on facebook with a page (I hope the link works) and I am on twitter (@YvonneLindsay) now too, so if you want more current updates, please like or follow me to see what’s up!

So, today. Valentine’s Day (on this side of the dateline, anyway.) I’ve been busy presenting a talk to readers and writers at the Howick Library. Thanks to awesome publicity from our local papers (The Eastern Courier and The Howick and Pakuranga Times) not to mention the publicity through Auckland Libraries, there was a fabulous turnout and the Q&A went on for an hour and a half over time. Lovely people, lovely venue–great way to spend Valentine’s Day.

I love February. Not only do I have a new release this month, THE WAYWARD SON, but it’s also my birthday month and who doesn’t love a birthday?

And who doesn’t love a competition? Celebrating this gorgeous month of February (it’s still summer, mostly, here in New Zealand) I have a three book giveaway–Rachel Bailey‘s WHAT HAPPENS IN CHARLESTON, Paula Roe’s BED OF LIES, and my THE WAYWARD SON. So bring it on.

What does Valentine’s Day mean to you, love it or hate it? And why? All comments to go into the draw with one winner to be randomly drawn on my birthday (NZ time) 21 February.

  1. I’m a horrible blogger and not much better at Twitter. LOL. But I love Valentine’s because I can spoil all of my guys at once. ;) Mostly they just humor me because I always buy them silly little gifts. Tonight we grilled tenderloin steaks and I made all of the goodies to go along with them. My oldest was upset that he had to work but I had his gifts propped up in his room so he could see them before he left. And I promised I’d make a plate for him so he could eat when he got home.

Nothing more fun than a birthday month!! Hope you get spoiled rotten!!

    • Chelle, I’m definitely beginning to see the appeal of Twitter. I resisted for a long time but have finally succumbed. Love the sound of your Valentine’s Day spoiling for the men in your life. I hope they spoiled you in return!

  2. I follow your Facebook page. I don’t Twitter, my daughter refuses to show me because she said my old brain would not remember how to do it, and I would be forever asking her questions. lol. I love the candy selections for Valentine’s day. Someone said, why just one day, we should love everyone every day and not just show our appreciation on one day. This is so true, as we don’t know what the future holds for any of us.

Have a Happy Birthday, when it come around.

    • LOL, Ruth. My eldest girl is my go-to person when technology stumps me (which, sadly, is fairly often. Especially iTunes. What is it with that?) And, yes, we don’t know what the future holds for any of us. Last year I decided I would learn to ‘seize the moment’ but I don’t think I fully entered into the spirit of my new mantra because by the end of the year I had some regrets for things I hadn’t done. This year has started quite differently and I’ve even done parasailing and tandem skydiving (from 15,000 feet) so far. I’m no adrenalin junkie but I’m very glad I made the most of those opportunities and seized those moments :-)

  3. I love the sentiment but not the commercialisation. I need the personal touch – even if it’s just a hug, or a note, a freshly picked flower, or a handmade card. Words and thoughts for me – or him! It’s the ‘being thought of – not the ‘being bought for’ that makes me feel the love :<3

  4. Clare, I totally agree with you about the sentiment and not the commercialisation. Those personal touches are worth so much.
